Why I Rebranded Daniel Dennis Media to Video Formula

Rebranding a business is not just about changing a logo or picking a new name. For me, it was about recognising how far I had come, where the business was heading, and what it needed to become to match that next stage. Introducing Video Formula.

From Uni Project to Full-Time Business: The Start of Video Formula

I started Daniel Dennis Media back in 2017 while I was still at university. It was a university project that began with freelancing and finding my feet in the creative industry. The name reflected that it was me, my skills, and my journey.

Over time, that uni project evolved. I developed my approach, worked with more clients, I got jobs in marketing teams and agencies. The work I was doing had shifted, but the brand was still stuck in the past.

I needed a fresh start. One that reflected what the business had become and where it was going next.

Why “Video Formula”?

Video Formula is about more than just a name. It represents the structure, clarity and process we now bring to every project. It’s not just about making great videos; it’s about helping businesses turn those videos into consistent marketing content across every channel witht he aim to meet the business’s goals.

The rebrand was about creating a brand that could stand on its own, without relying on my personal name. I wanted it to feel more grown-up, more strategic, and more scalable, something clients could instantly understand and connect with.

The Creative Process with Serrano Media

I worked with Sophie Allen at Serrano Media, who specialises in brand and graphic design. From the start, I had a LOT of ideas. Gradients, curves, layered meanings, energy, and confidence all packed into one brief.

To be honest, it got a bit overwhelming. I was too close to it, trying to fit too much in. Sophie helped me take a step back, prioritise what really mattered, and simplify. Eventually, I gave her full creative control, and that was a game-changer.

She explored concepts like scientific formulas, fluidity, and flow. The final design cleverly combines a formula-inspired symbol with a play button, representing both video and podcasting. When she explained the meaning behind each element, it all clicked. It wasn’t just a logo — it told a story.

Lessons from the Rebrand

The biggest lesson? Let the experts do what they’re best at.

I had been holding on too tightly to something that no longer served where I was going. Once I handed over control and trusted Sophie’s process, the result was far better than anything I could have come up with on my own.

Video Formula now reflects everything I stand for. Clarity, confidence, structure, and creativity. It’s no longer just about me; it’s about the results I help clients achieve.

And if I’m honest, I only wish I’d done it sooner.

Next it was time to bring the brand to life.
